Now that newsprint is dying, I can fetishize its formats.


Read an article about Masthead design today, then listened to a couple of design podcasts and daydreamed this.

The Circle-N would be used as a logo, and different sections of the paper would have their initial letter in blackletter, in a circle, with red highlights, centered at the top of the page, with the rest of the section name in the sans serif, not necessarily dropped out of a red band, they could just be black.

The Circle-N would be used for stationary, business cards, etc... For some reason blackletter screams newspaper. I like the lighter Blair Medium sans serif for headlines, with a lot more white space than Impact, and a nice serif (like my favorite, Hoefler) for the body of the articles.
